Through the study of multiple genres of literary works concerning the body, students develop their ability to read carefully and to understand the relationship between literary texts, the body, and a range of historical and/or contemporary literary contexts. The course also introduces students to some of the terms and critical approaches necessary for further literary study.

Prerequisite: Any 200-level ENGL course with a D or better.
