BIO 306. Marine Biology of the Galapagos. 3 Hours.

Study of the aquatic biodiversity of the Galapagos. Students will learn the basics of marine biology, including adaptations that allow organisms to live in the ocean, how organisms interact with other organisms in the ocean, and the impact of the ocean ecosystems on marine life. In addition, students will learn to visually identify the major species of marine life in the Galapagos. Students will research the contemporary pressures confronting the Galapagos islands and engage with locals to gain their perspective on conservation issues in the islands. Travel to Galapagos is a mandatory component of this course. This course is only offered during Interim.

Prerequisite: BIO 150 with a minimum grade of C-.
