A survey of the role of digital media in non-Western cultures, including immigrant communities within the United States. Readings and screenings will explore the use of social media in activist movements in the Middle East and North Africa, media arts in Japan and Korea, network culture in China and Africa, and changing representations of global citizenship within the United States.
