19th Century Studies (NCS)
This program crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries and considers the trends and events of the 19th century from a variety of cultural and historical perspectives. For the purpose of this program, the period of study dates from 1785 to 1918. Nineteenth Century Studies is not a major; it is an interdisciplinary program available to students majoring in English or History.
Satisfactory completion of courses that satisfy a college General Education requirement and a requirement in 19th Century Studies may be counted toward both. Satisfactory completion of courses that satisfy a requirement in the English major or the History major and a requirement in 19th Century Studies may also be counted toward both.
